Most homes and businesses have GFCI outlets somewhere — often in bathrooms, kitchens, and near water sources…to protect from electric shock. They have a “test” button and a “reset button. Tripping the “test” button tests the outlet’s ability to shut off. “Reset” does just that – resets the outlet to standard use.
While 2025 had some AMAZINGLY happy times, it wasn’t a great year. There were plenty of low and sad times. It felt like a long string of tests.
2026 is my GFCI year – a year to embrace resetting. Each day, each week, each month — all opportunities to reset. It’s my way of giving myself grace. I didn’t eat well today or didn’t get enough physical activity? That’s OK–I’ll reset for tomorrow. Spent too much this month? That’s OK–I can reset my budget for a new month.
Serendipity is quite literally resetting, too…as a blank slate.
I asked a writer friend for advice. I want to start writing again, but there’s a HUGE gap in posting. Who I was in 2008 when I launched Serendipity isn’t who I am now.
I started a business in 2017 and veered into an entirely new career path in 2019.
I managed a home-based small business through the COVID pandemic.
Jasper, a half-husky, joined our family in 2020.
Kitties Amani and Jax both crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022.
I sold the business in 2025 and, for the first time in 19 years, am only working one job.
Wonder Child is a 20-something adult and living in another state.
I am now an empty-nester (except for Jasper).
“Delete it all and start over.”
I depend on his being a straight shooter, and he didn’t dilly-dally around. I downloaded posts that I want to archive for my own memories and others that will be retooled and reposted.
Here’s to 2026 as a reset.
